The What, Why and How Guide to Healthy Living

The What, Why and How Guide to Healthy LivingJump headfirst into a new, exciting way of living healthily by following these fat fighting tips on how to whip yourself into shape and beat those stubborn muffin tops, with a healthy living regime that will alter how you eat and why you eat. It’s never too late to change how you live, eat and exercise, and if you’ve decided to take the plunge, congratulations, because you’ve taken the first step by reading this post.
This is a great little guide which looks to outline what healthy living is, how you can go about living healthier and why you should do it; and while it’s easy for me to sit here at my desk telling you to grab the cross trainer by the handle bar-shaped horns and change your life, the only person who can do this is you – so good luck.

What is Healthy Living?

Healthy living; the term is so broad that it can be a scary and intimidating phrase that many of us shy away from, but if you’re fully equipped with the right attitude and will to succeed, then you have nothing to fear.

Okay, so healthy living. The term generally refers to the food, nutrients and vitamins that an individual consumes on a daily basis. In addition to this, the person intent on sticking to a healthy living regime should look at the amount of exercise they are doing on a daily basis. Healthy living is a change for life. It is not a quick fix and it is something that you should stay with once you have made the change.

Why Should I Be Living Healthier?

There are MANY benefits to healthy living and the main one is inarguably focused on a better standard of living and health. That’s right folks, by eating the right things and exercising regularly, your standard of health will improve massively – there are no two ways about it.

Alongside being healthy, you’ll find that you feel more confident in how you look as you may naturally lose a little bit of weight, your energy levels will be elevated and your mood will be positively equipped to be able to handle stressful situations. This is caused by the endorphins which are released during physical exercise, so before you think about giving up, try and think about the happy feeling you’ll get after finishing a sweaty workout session at the gym, or a leisurely swim at the local swimming pool.

How Do I Start Living Healthier?

Take a deep breath guys, because this is the hard part. It’s easy to sit reading about it and thinking how you’re going to change your ways and become a health fitness fanatic, but actually doing it is going to take a lot of will power.

So, first things first – Diet

There’s no point completely cutting out all the chocolates, sweets, crisps, greasy take-outs and naughty foods that you love so much, as it will only make you crave them more. For this reason, it’s wise to slowly ease them out of your diet – if you crave a bar of chocolate, have less than you normally would. This strengthens your ability to implement a thing called self-control, something which I personally find very difficult!

Next – It’s time to pump some iron!

Okay, I don’t expect you to go out and start pumping iron in the gym with the hardcore gym nuts, but you should be willing to do at least half an hour of exercise a day. So, whether it’s running to catch the bus in the morning, walking to the local shop at lunch or going for a casual swim after you’ve finished work, doing your 30 minutes will help you to keep fit.

The technique is little and often, and once you get into a routine you will find that you have more energy to do things, and have a can-do rather than a can’t-do attitude.

This is only a short overview of what’s actually involved in swapping your current lifestyle for one that is more proactive and healthier, but for more information go and speak to your GP. They will know a lot about your health, and can offer you tips on what exercises will be good for you and which ones to avoid; but as always, keep striving for a healthy lifestyle and treat yourself for it.
