How To Cure FluLooking for information on how to cure flu? You’ve landed in the right place! Flu season is upon us once again.  It comes around regularly without fail; fortunately, there are also natural and practical flu cure remedies that are time-tested.  While it is true that prevention is always better than the cure, all of us will get the flu several times over the course of our life.  When the sniffles set in, when your temperature rises, when your throat becomes sore, and your head and muscles start to ache, it’s time to give the following how to cure flu tips a go:

How To Cure Flu

Get Plenty of Rest

Listen to your body; when flu symptoms set in, stay at home and let your body recuperate.  Resting will allow your body to fight off the infection more effectively; it can direct its energy towards battling the flu, an exhausting undertaking.  So call in sick at school or at work and get warm and comfortable in your bed.

Drink to Your Health

Drink only healthy liquids, of course.  Increase your fluid intake to avoid dehydration.  Hot liquids, in particular, will help loosen mucus buildup in your bronchial tubes and relieve nasal congestion and mucus membrane inflammation.  Water, sports drinks, clear soups, and fruit juices should be a huge part of your flu diet.  When eating hot soup, preferably hot chicken soup, make it even “hotter” by adding a bit of hot sauce, pepper, or garlic to it.  The spiciness will help decongest your sinuses and improve your breathing.

Stop Sniffling

Expel your mucus and do it frequently, but do it right.  Blowing your nose too hard will give you an earache.  The right way to blow your nose is doing so one nostril at a time.  Press your finger over one nostril and gently blow the other nostril.  After all, the point of loosening mucus buildup is to get rid of it.

Flush Your Nostrils

You can get over-the-counter saline nasal drops at your local drug store and use them to flush out mucus.  Drip saline, or salt water, drops into each nostril to thin out mucus and then gently blow.

Rinse Your Throat

Relieve that raw and scratchy feeling in your throat by gargling several times a day.  Try any one of these gargles: a teaspoon of salt in warm water; tea; a tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey in two cups of hot water (cool before gargling).  You can also suck on lozenges to help soothe your sore throat.

Soak Up Steam

Fill your bathroom sink or a medium-sized glass bowl with steaming water and add a teaspoonful of Vicks VapoRub or a few drops of mentholated or eucalyptus oil.  Place your face over the steam, you can also spread a towel over your head to direct all the steam towards your face, and inhale it until you start breathing more easily.  You can also sit on a chair near the shower as hot water runs and steam fills the bathroom.  Breathing in the moist steam will help decongest your nasal passageways.tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey in two cups of hot water (cool before gargling).  You can also suck on lozenges to help soothe your sore throat.

Monitor Your Temperature

When you develop a fever, you can take an over-the-counter medication to help lower your temperature as well as to treat any accompanying body aches.  Ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and naproxen are safe and effective OTC medications for fever.  You can also give yourself a sponge bath to help make you feel more comfortable.

Keep Your Head Raised

When sleeping or simply lying down, keep your head raised at a slight angle by resting your head on two pillows instead of just one.  This position will keep your nasal passages draining properly and help you breathe more easily.

Here you have it, the 8 easy steps which should teach you how to cure flu.

Summary of How To Cure Flu

When flu strikes, help your body heal itself.  Give it time to rest to help your immune system fight off the infection.  Nurse yourself back to health and cure flu by following these simple tips found above.

I’ve also heard that chewing the garlic helps to clear your nose and provides some relief for the throat.

Hello again. Yes, garlic has well-known antiseptic properties. And if you can’t stand the smell or the taste, you can always try garlic capsules.
