Home Remedies For Dry SkinDry skin is an extremely common condition all over the world; making dry skin remedies some of the fastest selling cosmetic products. It affects mostly the scalp, legs, arms, or abdomen, and occurs mainly in climates of fluctuating temperatures, such as the tropics and air-conditioned rooms, or cold climates and room heating inside. This change in temperature causes the skin to lose moisture and cracking to occur.  Many drug stores contain effective dry skin remedies, but you can save yourself the trip, and some money, by using items found in your home. Depending on which area of your skin is drying out, you can make several concoctions right in your kitchen, or bathroom.

Top Dry Skin Home Remedies

Using Oil

Used for years, this is one of the most effective dry skin remedies available. By applying olive, almond, or even coconut oil before bath helps prevent soap from over drying the skin. Following the bath it is advisable to apply a moisturizer and a sunscreen, since sun can worsen dry skin.

Milk Fat

Milk fat is one of the better dry skin remedies available today. By mixing 10 grams of milk fat, a teaspoon of milk and a few drops of lime, and applying a while before showering, the difference is noticeable after the bath. Use regularly for best results.

Honey

Honey is a good moisturizer, has anti-bacterial properties and anti-oxidant effects, making it one of the most sought after dry skin remedies. Warm slightly, apply to affected areas, leave for fifteen minutes then have a shower. Only a few remedies are better than honey for dry skin.

Glycerine

This helps to absorb and lock in moisture, so it’s no wonder you can find this in many moisturizing creams. By mixing a spoonful of glycerine with a few drops of lime, you have one of the cheapest dry skin remedies that work.

Vitamin E

This vitamin can be used in two ways, either ingested by mouth, or burst open and applied to the skin. By adding a few drops of lime juice, followed by a shower the difference can be felt. Vitamin E is one of the most popular dry skin remedies on the market.

Aloe Vera

The Aloe Vera plant has been used for centuries as a hydrating agent. It is a good investment if you do not own an Aloe plant to get one, since it saves you money and makes it more convenient to get aloe whenever you need. Following your bath, extract the gel out of a piece of Aloe, and apply to face, hands or wherever is affected. It is still advisable to use a moisturizer afterwards, since aloe can make your skin feel tense and tight.

Water

Water helps to keep the body hydrated, and can help a large degree in curing dry skin. It is advisable to drink at least ten glasses daily, but there’s no harm in drinking a bit more.

Sleep

Sleep is one of the best dry skin remedies, in addition to being an aid for everything. Skin cell restoration occurs during the night, so ensure you get at least eight hours of good quality sleep.

Exercise

How can this help? You may ask, since the answer is not immediately obvious. Exercise causes sweating, which clears pores of debris.  Clear pores are necessary for dry skin remedies to work.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

These fats are beneficial for a wide range of ailments, including the skin. It helps to improve the skin structure by binding with collagen.

Conclusion: Dry Skin Remedies

These natural tips are generally effective for the majority of the population. If you do not respond to these dry skin remedies, it is advisable to contact your doctor.
