Damn. Seems I'm up for surgery and some long time recovery. Had a bad snowboard accident: snowboard dug itself into the icy slope and decided to stop, while I continued to move due to some inevitable laws of physics. Get the picture: snowboard with the boot and my foot in it stopped, while the rest of my body continued forward. That hurt. Specifically at the pivotal point, also known as the ankle.
.
Three months later I have no problem walking, but for example when I squat down this tendon moves over the ankle bone (the 'bump' at the side of the anbkle) and often just gets stuck there which is painful. I can push/massage it back to where it should be, which typically also results in some after-pain. An orthopedic surgeon told me via Twitter that this sounds like a luxation of the peroneal tendon, and that, if confirmed, I should prepare for surgery + 6 weeks of having my leg in a cast + physiotherapy.
.
Your truly is NOT a happy camper at the moment.

I was diagnosed with pereonus longus tendonosis after a year of going to 4 different doctors. All of them misdiagnosed me and said I had Morton's Neuroma, made expensive orthotics (thank goodness the insurance paid for them)! Had 2 cortisone shots that only helped for about 1 week the first time and 3 days the second time. There was 1 GP, 2 podiatrists, one Orthopedic surgeon and a chiropractor They only took X-rays and went no further. Finally, In February of this year I found a different Orthopedic surgeon who sent me for an MRI which showed 'mild thickening' of the Peroeus Longus tendon and sent me for PT and told me to ditch the rock hard 'custom' orthotics and get a gel type cushioning insert. I have just finished the month of PT but have a question about which athletic shoe is best for this tendonosis? I had some Brooks Glycerine but they hurt to wear now. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading this lengthy post. :)

Medical doctors absolutely do NOT use placebo to treat their patients. In fact, they aren't even allowed to. It's considered unethical. Placebo is only used in the testing phase of a medication. Acupunture is complete nonsense and wants to bypass the rules of the scientific method. But it doesn't work like that. Science works and is demonstrable. Nothing about acupunture is. Read the peer reviewed papers. There isn't a single one that shows it's better than placebo or that it's effective for treating anything other than subjective illnesses. People are entitled to beleive whatever they wish but that doesn't mean it works.
