Bug bites are inevitable during summer. For some people, applying insect repellent is a very effective deterrent against mosquito bites. Other insects and bugs, however, are bolder and their stings are as bad as their buzz. Thankfully, most stings will heal naturally without the need to consult a doctor; however, you might feel discomfort, itchiness, and pain. Thankfully, you don’t have to suffer. There are natural home remedies to alleviate pain and discomfort brought about by the insect and bug bites.

What Should You Do After Getting Bitten By An Insect?

Not all insects and bugs have a stinger; however, if you have been stung by a bee or a wasp, you must immediately scrape away the stinger as soon as you are stung. Remember to use the edge of a credit card or use your fingernail to scrape the stinger. Never attempt to pull the stinger using tweezers since it might squeeze more venom into your skin.   3. Natural Oils: If you have natural oils available at home, you can also use those. You can consider applying lavender, tea tree, or peppermint oil to the bite area using a swab.

  4. Banana Peel: This remedy can take away the pain and itch. You can peel a banana and place the inner area of the peel directly to the bite site. Leave it there for about an hour and a half. You can then wash the area and apply a sanitizer to relieve itching.
  5. Baking Soda: You can create a baking soda paste by adding water. Apply the paste to the bite site and leave it there for a few minutes. You can also mix the baking soda with lotion. The soda will minimize the inflammation while the lotion will keep the solution in place. Remember though to avoid using this remedy if you have an open wound from the bite.
  6. Aspirin: Aspirin has anti-inflammatory properties that can prevent swelling of the bite site. You can crush the aspirin to create a paste which you can apply to the bite. Cover it with band aid throughout the night so that you will wake up free from itchiness. You can also take the aspirin orally.

These natural home remedies are very effective for normal reactions from insect and bug bites. However, if you start to experience more extensive local reactions, you might need to consider other forms of medication. If the bite becomes infected, you should take antibiotics.
